This breed is popular for its use as inspiration in John Tenniel’s drawing of Alice in Wonderland, this breed has been around for some time and can trace its origins back to the 1st century and was believed to have been brought to Europe by the Romans before interbreeding with other cats in Europe to evolve into what it is today.
7. The Scottish Fold cat
The Scottish Fold cat is a breed known for its deformation of the cartilage causing its ears to “fold”, and was described as having an “owl-like” appearance prior to the 1960s.
Registering it as a new breed and if you intend to buy a Scottish Fold, keep in mind that this breed is prone to various conditions including mites and deafness which is also the reason why the Scottish Fold is bred with other well-known cat breeds such as the British and American Shorthair.
